Official Scrim Guidelines
What is a scrim?
A scrim is an organised battle between two clans.
What teams do DcS have?
DcS has four teams that scrim weekly on the GameArena Ladder, they are:
- GameArena 10 v 10 #1 (DcS) team which is managed by Mick and Thacker
- GameArena 10 v 10 #2 (DcS|MAD) team which is managed by Tols, Sekhmet and Copperhead
- GameArena 16 v 16 team which is managed by Arthur and Chief
- GameArena 10 v 10 team which is managed by Sammy
How do I get to play in a scrim?
First you have to sign up to the GameArena website. If you are currently not a member of the GameArena site then please sign up here:
- When making an account assure your user name is as close as possible to your Battlefield 2 account name.
Once you have made a GameArena account you will need to sign up to one of our teams.
- hhttp://www.gamearena.com.au/pc/ladders/
- Click ‘apply’ to join and write a message that explains who you are.
Once you have done that check the DcS forum’s for a thread about upcoming scrims.
- A scrim thread will be made in the forums usually once a week which will detail the time, date and requirements of the scrim.
- If you wish to take part in the scrim simply post a reply that you will be able to play.
This does not always guarantee that you will be playing the scrim, in some cases special preference has to be made for certain players.
Do we have a practice session?
Yes. In the scrim thread, a time and date of a practice session will be provided.
- By signing up for the scrim you are expected to attend the practice session.
- If you are unable to make the practice, post in the thread.
- If you do not turn up to practice without informing the scrim organiser then you will be a reserve for the scrim.
So you’re all signed up and ready for the scrim and practice what’s next?
We recommend that if you are not familiar with the map that the scrim will be on then go out and play some public servers. Familiarise your self with the map, learn the names of flags and what vehicles are on the map.
What happens in a practice session?
A practice session is very important.
- It allows the scrim organiser or strat (strategic plan of attack/defence) planner to show each player what they have to do, what squad they will be in and what the team as a whole will doing.
What is expected of you while attending a practice session?
- Listen so you fully understand what is happening and what you are doing in the scrim.
- While the strat planner is talking, you should be quiet, do not team kill any other players, do not take vehicles.
- Be respectful of your fellow clan mates.
Once everyone knows what they will be doing, the server will be restarted and you will practice, what’s known as a ‘roll out’ where everyone will practice what they have been told to do.
- You will get 3 warnings. if you are asked to do something or stop doing something and don’t do ityou will be removed from the scrim.
- Sometimes you may be given a ‘boring role’ in the scrim where you might have to repair the tank or sit on the AA gun the whole round, this is life, don’t complain just try and enjoy the scrim.
- If you have any suggestions for strats please personal message the strat planner or talk to them on TeamSpeak.
What is expected of you during scrim warm up?
- All players that are playing in the scrim are expected to be on TeamSpeak at least an hour before the scrim and log-on to the practice server.
- Listen to the scrim organiser.
- 10 minutes before the scrim jump off the practice server and write down the details for the server for the scrim.
What is expected of you in a scrim?
- Once you have joined the scrim server, keep team killing to a minimum.
- Next you will be asked to join the squad you have been assigned to in the practice session, once you have done that either stay unspawned or just stand around and do nothing.
- Do not type in global chat at anytime during the scrim unless it is to wish the opposing team good luck or to say good game at the end of the scrim.
- While the scrim organiser is trying to communicate to the other team do not spot things, revive people, throw out med packs or ammo.
- Use your in game VOIP to communicate with your squad
- Spot everything!
- Listen to your squad leader!
When the first round of the scrim finish there will be a 3-5 minute break, before going on a break swap teams. Once again the scrim organiser will call ‘live on restart’ and the final round of the scrim will start. Same things apply as above, spot things, listen to squad leader and commander and obey orders. When the scrim is over, say good game to the other team and leave the server.
What happens after the scrim?
- Once the scrim is over and everyone has left the server there will be a debrief.
- The scrim organiser will ask each person one by one to say there thoughts on the scrim.
- This isn’t a time to glorify your self.
Finally, have FUN! I know there are a lot of rules but really they are simple to follow and they do make the process of scrims a lot of fun.
