It had to happen and a sad day it is, Ubisoft have developed and released a “constant connection” protocol whilst playing - as a TPG user this new “constant connection” pretty much counts me out of any game put out by Ubisoft:

Playing Assassins Creed - if you get disconnected while playing, you’re booted out of the game. All your progress since the last checkpoint or savegame is lost, and your only options are to quit to Windows or wait until you’re reconnected. The game first starts the Ubisoft Game Launcher, which checks for updates. If you try to launch the game when you’re not online, you hit an error message right away. So I tried a different test: start the game while online, play a little, then unplug my net cable. This is the same as what happens if your net connection drops momentarily, your router is rebooted, or the game loses its connection to Ubisoft’s ‘Master servers.’ The game stopped, and I was dumped back to a menu screen — all my progress since it last autosaved was los

Nah you nung…. Because the game MUST be connected to the interweb whilst playing combined with TPG connections that are notoriously shit - playing would be an exercise in futility !

It’s not TPG only it affects anyone whos connection drops out regularly (See TPG amongst others)

When the Australian Gov. and Service Providers stop fucking over all us Aussies then i reckon the Steam idea will be decent. We need some of that Pommy Interwebs tbh.

When we get this, then it will be long time Bitty

Has anyone stopped and wondered why we have allegedly slow internet?

Our country is almost the same size as the USA with 1/10 (less) of the population.  Considering this, our internet (pro rata’d based on population to GDP) is actually 10 x faster than the united states.  No-one is screwing us over - our ancestors did it when they migrated to Australia instead of the USA!!
